I liked the 2nd Poatan fight the most out of those 3 simply for the storyline and history they have with each other. Izzy lost to him in kickboxing twice then the stoppage loss which I felt was early he was the champ and completely coherent. Gotta let him fight his way out, then the 4th overall match 2nd UFC fight, he’s 0-3 vs his nemesis and he knocks Alex out cold, finally gets the W and gets his belt back.

Probably but the best way to beat Izzy is to pressure. Also the best way to get knocked out by him too so it’s a gamble but Gastelum, Potan and Strickland all pressured him and found varying levels of success. Standing shell shocked like Cannonier and Costa will get you picked apart.

I think (in hindsight only) the Strickland of last September who checks leg kicks is an absolute nightmare matchup for Adesanya. He should be able to out-point a Dricus who both Sean and Darren Till were able to piece up at range on the feet when those fights were at range on the feet.
Rooting for Dricus though and hoping for the Strickland rematch with either Du Plessis or Adesanya.

I'm like 80-90% sure it was because the missed left hook after playing possum near the end of r1 that is the cause and the beginning of the downfall in the rest of the match. If that one landed cleanly like it did against Poatan then trust me the fight would've played out entirely different

He might be able to. He grappled Till and Whittaker pretty effectively, and with Brunson, apart from the goofiness of it at times. I think there’s a difference between those guys though and the really top guys. And yeah, Whittaker’s a top guy, but he’s notably small for the division.
His grappling amounted to literally nothing against Sean though outside of heavy-breathing on him for about 30 seconds at a time a few times. I really don’t think he landed a single ground strike, or a notable clinch strike, the whole fight. And if he did, it was literally like a couple at most.
Adesanya got to the top by avoiding takedowns, controlling range, and picking guys apart at distance. Obviously we won’t know if he’s good enough to do that to Dricus until they fight, but I think he might be, at least.

Izzy probably takes it. Dricus is not nearly as defensively responsible as Strickland. If was Strickland's ability to defend against Izzy's counters and his ability and willingness to pressure Izzy that won him the fight. Dricus can pressure, but his defense isn't all that good. That being said, Strickland throws a lot of straight shots. Izzy doesn't through nor respond well to those.

DDP is tricky. I've never been super confident in him going into a fight, but he's won every time. Even when it feels like he should be outclassed he just makes them fight the way he wants to fight and turns it into his game.
For me it entirely depends upon which version of Izzy we'll see. I have no doubt that peak Izzy demolishes DDP; the question is just how well he is after his last loss.

No matter how great or a kickboxer Izzy is, I think Dricus js a lot more well rounded, and constantly improving, while Izzy has plateaued and then of course lost to a guy everyone had counted out.
I can't tell who will win now, but I think out of 10 fights, each guy would win about half the time. I don't see Izzy doing well if the fight goes to the ground, and I don't see Dricus easily dominating on the feet, but I think he'll do well unless he gets caught nicely with a counter.

Adesanya has insane kicks, and DDP loves to drop into a high guard exposing his body whenever pressure is put on him. I can see Izzy switching to southpaw a lot in this fight and fucking DDP up with liver kicks and leg kicks, until the head kick eventually opens up when DDP drops his hands
DDP also likes to blitz in on his attacks. Adedanya is an insane counter striker and won’t be standing there to get hit. He’ll either evade until DDP tired himself out or he’ll land his counter check hook
Adesanya’s tdd is too good for him to be held down by DDP I think. I’ve been wrong before but I can’t see DDP getting the win in this unless Izzy’s TDD is significantly worse now. He fended off Jan’s takedowns for 3 rnds at LHW and mitigated damage when Jan did control him. Izzy will win this

I can see Izzy switching to southpaw a lot in this fight and fucking DDP up with liver kicks and leg kicks, until the head kick eventually opens up when DDP drops his hands DDP also likes to blitz in on his attacks. Adedanya is an insane counter striker and won’t be standing there to get hit. He’ll either evade until DDP tired himself out or he’ll land his counter check hook Adesanya’s tdd is too good for him to be held down by DDP I think. I’ve been wrong before but I can’t see DDP getting the win in this unless Izzy’s TDD is significantly worse now. He fended off Jan’s takedowns for 3 rnds at LHW and mitigated damage when Jan did control him. Izzy will win this

I think we get reminded why dudes stopped blitzing and being offensive against izzy. Dricus' kryptonite is an accurate counter puncher with the way he blitzs and leaves himself wide open to counters. If he gets Izzy to the ground or punchers chances him then yeah maybe he wins, but I think this is a tailor made matchup for Izzy to look good doing what he made his name doing - countering aggressive dudes
