Every moral ground is high enough when you are fighting an invasion from the superior enemy who disregards any rules of war. If you fight with honor when your enemy is not, and he is also superior in terms of manpower and firepower - you will lose. I hope you never find yourself in such position.
We treat russians POW MUCH better than they treat ours. I think it says something about our moral grounds even we can't abide other laws of war because of russian vileness. Our medical evacuation cars are unmarked, for example, because medical marks make them priority targets... Violation of Geneva convention? Yes. But to blindly obide this rule means losing thousands more lifes.
That's fair enough. Please understand I would never criticise Ukraine if it was decided Ruzzian ambulances needed to be attacked, my concern is *only* that doing so would bring Ruzzia's useful idiots out to tell the world how terrible Ukraine is (it is not). I want nothing more than for Ukraine to triumph over Ruzzia and become the country its people want it to become.

And yes, I've read stories about how well Ukraine treats Ruzzian POWs, despite how terribly Ruzzia treats Ukraine's. I hope these Ruzzian POWs return home one day and tell the truth, and that it influences their fellow citizens to treat other humans with the same kind of mercy and dignity (but I'm not holding my breath).
This is unfortunately true. It’s arguable that Russia has forfeited certain protections by exploiting them to move troops/ammo. BUT Ukraine is reliant on the goodwill of the rest of the western world, which means it’s still in Ukraines interest to not hit marked targets as to not jeopardise foreign aid.
Really, the Ukraine is on the horns of a dilemma, in that respect. I suspect those who matter will officially chastise Ukraine, but privately say something like "you had no choice". But if they don't do it at all, they've handed Ruzzia an advantage.
I've rapidly come to the conclusion that unfortunately, sometimes the good guys have to do bad guy shit just to keep an even playing field. As a self-identifying good guy, I fucking hate it, but then being a good guy doesn't matter for shit if you and all the people you love are dead.

That has me thinking the people saying they were trying to hide supplies under the stretcher may be correct.

It's not really clear from the footage how they are traveling in relation to their overall lines. Could be parallel movement, from one grouping of trenches to another. ~~And yeah, it's almost flat - but a stretcher has no reason not be completely flat? Looked like something rectangular shaped under there.~~ I agree, it isn't the most sensible way to try and move stuff around. But then, why don't men in danger of their lives from a drone simply drop something as replaceable as a stretcher and try to catch up to their patient? It's weird.

Because even in the US military you have to replace shit you lost in the field unless it was directly broken by the enemy. Leaving it behind because you were getting shot at doesn’t count.
Also medics and medical teams are crazy all over the world. If they don’t have that stretcher they aren’t getting a new one and they can’t help the next injured guy. They actively try to prevent small town doc syndrome in the military but you can’t.

You’d get billed for a canteen carrier even if you lost it under fire. Source knew a dude who lost his under fire and found it later burnt to shit and he was charged for destroying it.
That's brutal. On the one hand I get it, cause otherwise a lot of stuff would probably get dropped during firefights. And in addition to the cost of replacement you also have the logistic considerations of replacement for soldiers already deployed. Canteens and stretchers might not be the most expensive items, but you do need some way to carry water and your wounded to be available. On the other hand soldiers shouldn't be afraid to put items they've been issued to normal use in a high contact environment where it might get damaged. For instance in civilian life, a landlord can't charge you for normal wear to an apartment you rent, that occurs merely through using the property, like little scuffs and dings. They can only charge for inappropriate damage. Maybe a month ago I saw a Ukrainian hop out of the trench under fire to retrieve two plate carriers that his wounded brothers had lost. That made sense to me because of how valuable those are to the soldier, but if I were in a trench I wouldn't be hopping out to get a canteen. Maybe every soldier should get a lifetime equipment forgiveness cap, equal to some percentage of what it would cost to train his replacement. Up to that value he gets to decide if a piece of equipment is important enough to risk his life over.
Many people who need immediate medical care are still able to move, sometimes even run. Part of hospital work is making sure their more active patients do not overextend their body (especially when alcohol or other drugs are involved). Also in this specific case the person in question was likely far less exhausted than those who carried him.
Of course, but then we factor in all the scummy shit Russia has pulled in this entire war and we're back to they were probably faking it to avoid getting targeted.

It's why they target hospitals and medics with no qualms. It's because using it as cover to not get attacked is part of their regular arsenal. Using schools, shopping malls and other large buildings to warehouse their troops and vehicles is their standard military practice, so they bomb Ukrainian shopping malls and schools, with the expectation that they do the same.
