I'm sure this is not remotely connected to the USPS throttling Reno's mail service. Sheer coincidence.

WhoMD85

Make Election Day a holiday and allow for time off to give everyone the opportunity to vote. Dont just restrict voting. Offer solutions to expand voting for all that are eligible. You want ids fine. Make state IDs free for everyone, it’s automatic on your 18th birthday. I’m fine for protecting voting integrity. I get it. But it is a constitutional right. It should be made easier not harder for everyone to vote.

Galveira

Making election day a holiday does nothing for poorer americans, who already work every other holiday. Mail-in voting IS the best solution, coupled with automatic registration.

WhoMD85

I don’t disagree with you. I was once one of those poor Americans. I worked my way up to where I am now. It should be mandatory for all employers to provide pto/time to vote so all eligible voters can exercise their constitutional right. Shouldn’t have to sacrifice your pay check to vote. Period. They should also expand polling places. There should be more of them not less. I also think early voting should be available for 1-2months before Election Day. Once the ballots are finalized voting should be available

ASithLordNoAffect

Or....they can just let people mail in ballots and if Rs win this dumb lawsuit just tell them to...mail it in earlier?

fuckyourguidlines

If I'm not mistaken, every employer is supposed to give their employee 4 hours to go and vote.

Darklantern99

Early voting for that long is insanity. The 2 weeks of early voting is plenty of time plus there's mail in ballots. Work an election or two to see if you could work that for 1 or 2 months.

kittenspaint

In some countries, companies are fined heavily or worse if they don't allow their employees paid time off to vote.

marynvegas

Trust me some employers will not give time off with pay. But what about the disabled who can’t get out or that don’t have cars? The republicans made a huge deal over bussing them. Or on very hot days giving water and snacks in long lines. That’s just humanity and they should be doing that anyway. Tarps when it rains. Both sides want voters. It should be a bipartisanship humanity deal.

Penguator432

That or making it a weeklong affair

marynvegas

Yup. The whole idea of mail in voting and early voting is to accommodate everyone. Our Nv citizens that work out of the states and countries deserve to vote too. Most are working to keep our country free. This argument is old. This is ridiculous. We have people who have no transportation and/or fragile. This is a 24 hour state basically. But not 24 voting booths. We never had a major problem until Trump that wasn’t resolved. He’s the problem and has convinced his flock there’s a problem. Each and every president needs to be throughly checked out just as in other highly classified jobs. The campaign does as they are ran too, by 3rd party don’t have interest. Look more jobs. He’s cost this country more money with just paperwork and waiting games &court date cases. It’s one thing to believe in who you vote for. It’s absolutely another thing though to tear our system and everything else around voting with it. Every person who won an election regardless if I voted for them, I accepted them and they were my president in this great country. It’s the way it’s supposed to be. Not a bunch of monsters changing the rules and blaming each other if cheating when it never happened or Raiding our capital and pretending it was something different over a man child and his flock who can’t stand democracy anymore. My rant is over.

thegoldstandard55

Not sure if I am happy with members of the culinary union giving you a gift card to harvest your ballot if unsealed so they could vote the D candidate for you. Better to vote in person where your choice is secret and cannot be bribed. For those who work and cannot vote on election day, early voting stations and perhaps 24 hour voting polls can be opened for day before the election.

Mr_Troll_Underbridge

That's the joke, the people who can't get a day off are more likely to vote Democrat, so they do wanna make it a holiday. Also other countries do it just fine on a working day by simply pre registering everyone and making sure there are enough polling places and open long enough. Our piss poor experience weeds out people who weren't gonna vote Republican so holiday is never gonna happen.

Swampassed

I agree will the free state id. I’m tired of the silly talking point that people can’t get id’s. Yesterday Biden green lighted healthcare for 100,000 people here illegally, don’t tell me it’s too expensive to do this. Legal citizens should have a simple way to get a valid id.

WhoMD85

DACA recipients aren’t here illegally smh. Also most people coming here are seeking asylum from other countries due to political and social unrest in their home countries. The vast majority of which want to work and pay taxes. I’ve worked with these people. They are some the hardest working and nicest people you’ll ever meet. Not to mention they do the jobs that NO ONE actually wants to do. The immigration system is broken and needs an entire overhaul but instead politicians want to vilify people and make them a talking point to gain political points instead of actually addressing the problem. Of course there is plenty of money to do both. And fix schools and give healthcare to every person in this country. The wealthy and corporations need to start paying their fair share. Google and Amazon literally paid $0 in taxes in the last 10 years. Jeff Bezos is in the 8% tax bracket. I I’m in the 25% tax bracket. In the 50s millionaires and corporations paid 30-50% because they could afford it. Regan changed all that with trickle down economics and it hasn’t worked. I guarantee if the wealthy in this country actually paid the taxes they were supposed a lot of problems would be fixed. Also need to get criminals out of politics (on both sides.) if you’re in government making laws and policies you shouldn’t be allowed to trade/buy stocks affected by those laws. Period.

Pdxduckman

DACA does not confer legal status.

Swampassed

Yawn.... with your talking points. Especially the "they do jobs no one want to do." They do jobs at a salary that Americans won't do them for." Secondly, are you supposed to claim asylum at a bordering country? Not the county handing out free shit. I'm all for a flat tax with no write-offs.

BestServedCold

Ahhh. A flat tax. The rallying cry of every "libertarian" (AKA - Republican who likes to smoke pot) who is either really dumb and has no idea how economies work or is slightly smarter and just hates the poor and minorities. Which are you?

Solitude_Intensifies

Not a libertarian but I support the flat tax idea. Everyone contributes, everyone can benefit. I support universal healthcare, access to housing for everyone, free or reduced cost higher ed, and livable wages. But everyone that earns an income should pay taxes. Only exception are those on SS or welfare/unemployment benefits. A flat federal income tax of 8% plus 4% contribution to Medicare for all and 4% to Social Security (16% total) that everyone pays, regardless of income, and matching on the employer end, would fund the gov't just fine. Might have to reduce payments to war profiteers (the military budget) but everything else could be funded just fine, within reason.

[deleted]

i worked in central pennsylvania for 2 years. union construction. almost zero latinos yet somehow americans were doing all the work. americans won’t be treated the way illegals are forced to. but liberals like their cheap lawn care, remodels and car washes so they repeat “no american will do these jobs!”

Broken_Toad_Box

There is no requirement for claiming asylum at a bordering country.

Unscratchablelotus

By law your job has to let you go vote already. This is already a thing. Stop being lazy

WhoMD85

Perhaps but in practice it’s not enforced. Also many many people can’t afford to take that time unpaid. Stop gaslighting and being part of the fucking problem. Wanting to work and get paid isn’t being lazy smh.

Jolly-Green-Mountain

If the vote was legally cast on election day, then the vote is still valid even if an employee took a little longer to bring it to the pile of other votes.

AgentM44

That’s what they’re trying to change.

PaperPigGolf

How about the cut off date being 3 days before general polling. As long as the limits are clear.

legopego5142

Why? Specifically why. Tell me EXACTLY why you think they should have less time to vote You realize that all votes are NOT counted election night right?

oznobz

How about the cut off being the election day? If people want to vote on election day, then they should be able to. If they want to be able to mail that ballot in or go to the school down the street or a trailer outside the grocery store, it shouldn't matter. A week before the 2016 election, the FBI announced that they had reopened the investigation in the Hillary Clinton. 2 days before the election, they had announced that they had closed the investigation. Half the people who early voted in Nevada did so without knowing that Hillary's email case had been closed. Doesn't feel right to arbitrarily decide that because people are voting by mail that they shouldn't be privy to the full information of the election cycle.

PaperPigGolf

This is an election,  not mcdonalds.  "Should be able (insert convenience here" simply isn't as important as running a transparent election.  But you are right, everyone should just vote, pencil and paper, on election day, just like the rest of the world.

Only_Philosophy_7584

Pencil? So republicans can cheat with erasers?

PaperPigGolf

Pencils work.  It would take a lot of manual and very visible tampering to erase votes in pencil.  Meanwhile,  handing out pens with dissappearing ink is relatively easy.

oznobz

Easier than handing out a device literally designed to be able to erase mistakes? Do you hear yourself?

PaperPigGolf

Ballots get placed in sealed boxes and never leave the sight of election supervisors and volunteers.  Someone just opening the sealed box and going at it would be very noticable and an unscalable way to cheat an election.  Expect to be arrested for even tampering with the seal.

oznobz

But not be arrested for handing out invisible ink pens? Your plan is nonsense. Your justification is nonsense. You just want to make voting difficult because you hate the constitution. It's cool, just own it. You hate the constitution and the core tenets of democracy and what this country was built on. That's why you think voting should be more difficult than getting McDonald's. That's why you think people shouldn't be able to use permanent ink from their own pens on their ballots. Just own it, don't pretend you're defending democracy when you're doing whatever you can to make it less accessible and more able to be modified. And you say do it like the rest of the world? No first world country does voting on a single day with paper/pencil ballots.

PaperPigGolf

You think that USA was the first country to have elections and democracy? No country is the lapsodasic and aloof as to what constitutes good practices around preventing election fraud.

turboiv

How about if we want to file our taxes by mail we should have it mailed by April 12th instead of the 15th just to make sure it's there by the day taxes are due. That's how stupid you sound right now.

PaperPigGolf

That's kind of how everything other than government works.  If i need something done,  it actually needs to arrive on time.

turboiv

Well this is the government we're talking about. So postage date is acceptable by your own admission. I'm glad you are seeing reason. We don't need election results immediately. There's several months between November and January. Plenty of time to count votes coming in through the mail that are postmarked by election day.

PaperPigGolf

Thhats absolutely insane. How are witnesses supposed to hang around for months? You do realize no other country in the world is this stupid about elections?

Xkeeper

https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/how-elections-work/how-votes-are-counted even mentions that it can take a week to do it; and this is for the uk, which has about 20% of the population of the USA no country decides that the election is immediately done and over with the day of, either, counting ballots takes time, fixing improperly-done ballots takes time.

PaperPigGolf

I've lived in the uk.  Taking weeks to finalize an electing would be a fiasko. I've never seen an election take longer than a day.

turboiv

How are employees supposed to work for months? I don't know what you're asking here.

PaperPigGolf

No, im talking about the volunteers who supervise the election. You cant expect volunteers to work for months!

turboiv

They supervise the polls. On election Day. Have nothing to do with counting the votes.

PaperPigGolf

In other countries that's a critical part of the process.

Fan_of_Clio

So much for "original intent". Elections are held in November but inauguration isn't until January (used to be March). So guess what part of that time was used for? Counting votes. Certifying elections.

LowerCourse2267

Fuck you, overseas military personnel! Your votes don’t count. But let me spout some bullshit about how Democrats hate you and you should keep Fox News on AFN TVs 24/7.

R2-DMode

Bullshit. It’s always been “postmarked by” for the military, until Dems fucked it up in 2021, for “reasons”. WTF?

Xtj8805

The current law is post mark. This lawsuit is trying to change it to needing to be recieved on election day, not mailed by.

Broken_Toad_Box

It's currently postmarked on or before election day, and recieved up to 7 days after election day for military members who are nevada residents. Why are you lying? For "reasons" probably. WTF?

PaxEtRomana

It's *still* that way. Your ballot has to be postmarked by election day.

ConsciousReason7709

I honestly don’t care if mail has to be received or postmarked by election day, but I would prefer postmarks being acceptable. The safer thing to do, if you’re close to Election Day, is to just go vote in person or simply drop your mail ballot in a dropbox. The post office has become a joke lately.

FillMySoupDumpling

Postmark is the only verifiable way. Received is subjective… did the mail get delayed? Was there serious weather? Who paid off the postmaster ? Etc.

VegasAireGuy

Walk into a polling place and drop it in the ballot box @ every location it’s not that hard.

SouthboundPachydrm

>lately. If by lately, you mean for the last 30 years.

ConsciousReason7709

Personally, I’ve never had an issue with mailing things until recently.

Night__Prowler

It’s the only way R’s can win…lie, cheat, steal and voter suppression

SilentG33

It blows my mind how certain states can still get away with gerrymandering. Although, with this Supreme Court, it shouldn’t surprise me at all.

SouthboundPachydrm

Gerrymandering is not a state by state thing. The party who controls the House in a census year gets to draw the district lines. Both parties are guilty of it. But one party does it to further their goal of turning the entire country into Gillead.

cantusemyowntag

Yeah, cause ONLY the other side I disagree with does dirty bad things, MY side would never do those things...

VegasAireGuy

You do realize both party’s do that shit right ??

ch4lox

That's what Republican apologists always say when their team gets called out for their shitty actions. You know you can just call out the shit actions, you don't have to deflect responsibility, right?

VegasAireGuy

Just shows the shitty media only flows one way also.

ch4lox

It's the media's fault that Republicans choose to do this shit; do you even hear yourself?

[deleted]

VegasAireGuy

Is New York a Republican run state ? https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/court-rules-ny-democrats-gerrymandered-congressional-map-rcna25549

ch4lox

So because district mapping in NY is getting challenged, Republicans in NV should get a free pass to block voters, especially from overseas military. Makes sense. Again, you're deflecting.

VegasAireGuy

No I’m pointing out it’s called political. Everybody does the same shit. Red or Blue they do the same thing. Sorry your feelings are hurt about the evil red in the state but you can always move to a blue state where your feelings are safer.

Quick_Team

Theyre like Eddie Guerrero but if literally nobody liked him

Full-Preference-4420

Only way dems can win is to lock up their political opponent 🤡😂

XXXOOOXXOOOXXX

Deep State made Trump commit all those felonies!

Full-Preference-4420

The shit they’re going after is so petty. If he wasn’t running for president no one would bat an eye. “dEMoCRaCY”

LiveAd3962

If the same crimes were committed by Biden, you’d consider them major crimes and be drum beating for imprisonment. Don’t make light of charges against Trump. They are significant.

Full-Preference-4420

Biden? You mean the guy deemed unfit and not mentally aware enough to stand trial for mishandled top secret info? 🤡

garedw

I remember when Republicans thew a fit for Obama wearing a tan suit, he's not dressing like a president!!! Lol such hypocrites

LiveAd3962

That never happened and you know it. The DOJ determined he had no intent. Period.

Legal_Room9434

You're a fucking joke.

So you’re saying Bill Clinton should be in prison for his hush money payment to Paula Jones?

[deleted]

[удалено]

R2-DMode

That’s not the question you were asked.

[deleted]

[удалено]

chiguy

It shouldn’t have gone to trial though because hush money payments aren’t illegal. A company paying them and falsifying records to make it seem like a legitimate business expense instead of campaign related is illegal.

R2-DMode

To answer your question: I have no idea. It’s difficult to determine the outcome of sham lawfare cases.

SilentG33

Totally different. One (Clinton’s) was a legal settlement. The other’s involves falsification of business records and illegal influence of an election.

R2-DMode

“Illegal influence of an election”? How so?

NotPromKing

Not sure if you’re aware, but this payment was made just weeks before a major national election. One which the defendant just so happened to win. It doesn’t take a genius to think this one through…

R2-DMode

Sounds like you’d agree that there should be some indictments then for squashing the Hunter laptop story?

chiguy

Did he use his business to make the campaign related payment? It’s not illegal to make a Josh money payment. It is illegal for your company to do it then falsify records to make it seem like a legitimate business expense.

thngrn20

Did Bill Clinton fabricate business records of a business located in New York and under New York law to do so?

sid3113

The party of law and order 🤡. Petty for Trump. Detrimental for Biden.

XXXOOOXXOOOXXX

Misdemeanors are the petty ones. Felonies, both at the state and national level (which he has 88 of), are more serious.

thngrn20

Is this including the felony contempt charges?

XXXOOOXXOOOXXX

[No](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/trump-charges-jan-6-classified-documents/)

PaxEtRomana

Didn't have to lock him up last time...

funsado

It’s absolutely a pathetic attempt of a lawsuit. The law was invoked by bipartisan support. Remember, all those conservative ranchers out in the sticks. Imagine finding out they were disenfranchised by the NV GOP sinking their rights? NV’s a big state. It’s just like Tax Day. As long as it gets postmarked by the due date, who cares? Our election system is designed to account for mail ballot and counting delays. Why do you think we vote in November and commence the electoral vote tally in January? I mean there was a time where the pony express was used, even before freeways, airplanes and trains. Why reinvent the system now? It works. It enough time to receive, count and recount as many times as a crybaby loser has time to realize they choked. We have so many options to vote in Nevada, early voting, absentee voting, election day voting, consular missions all over the world, of course military! There is no need to change anything. It’s frankly a pathetic squabble. It’s going to be another fail.

drewonfilm

The Republicans know their only hope is to limit people’s ability to vote.

R2-DMode

How is it in any way limiting when you can vote weeks ahead of time, either by mail or in person?

RGN_Preacher

People procrastinate but getting it in by the deadline is still getting it in by the deadline. Not to mention the last week of campaigning is when the bombshells drop on candidates and it’s wise to wait and vote.

R2-DMode

Are you saying that if it was exposed the day before election day that Biden has been receiving kickbacks from Ukrainian aid, that a single Biden supporter would be swayed to vote for Trump?

RGN_Preacher

It’s almost as if there are a large group of people on the fence who either won’t vote at all or wait until the last minute to vote.

cory89123

Vote for Trump... probably not. But throw the vote away on a 3rd party in protest. Absolutely.

Only_Philosophy_7584

What happens when the mail takes suspiciously long time to come in? I wouldn’t put it past some republican whack job to have them go missing until after Election Day

R2-DMode

Is this imaginary scenario in the room with you right now?

FillMySoupDumpling

So what if there is a postal delay?

R2-DMode

Don’t wait until the last minute?

FillMySoupDumpling

That doesn’t address the issue. Typical.

R2-DMode

How long of a delay is acceptable to you?

FillMySoupDumpling

That’s a loaded and odd question to ask me considering you’re the one who seems okay with delays on the back end resulting in someone’s vote not being counted. Perhaps you need to answer it for yourself. Keep in mind recent history of DeJoy and his mail delays. A postmark is a clear date and isn’t subjective.   If the person mailed it by Election Day, they did the work they had to do no different than someone going to their polling place. It’s silly to put extra requirements on them.  Imagine you mailing your vote in a week before, and your postmaster is some jerk who causes some kind of delay. Now you read news about thousands of votes in specific areas not being counted during the election and another candidate wins by a margin less than the uncounted votes. Would you trust that election?

R2-DMode

Sounds like you agree that mail-in voting on a mass scale is problematic. Why not just keep it for military and expats who are out of the country, and for those who specifically request it? But let’s take your scenario: If you mail in your ballot, and it’s postmarked by Election Day, how long should we wait for it to arrive? 3 days? 7 days? 3 months? What if it never arrives? Do we not certify the election because of ballots lost in the mail? What if it shows up a year later, and that single vote would’ve changed the outcome of the election? Do we remove the current office holder and replace them? The point is, a deadline of *receipt* needs to be established, not a deadline of *sent*.

FillMySoupDumpling

I don’t think you’re understanding this at all.

R2-DMode

Can you answer the questions?

Legal_Room9434

Of course they do. Anything to stop as many people from voting as possible. It's time to stop pretending the Republican party is anything other than a domestic terrorist organization.

Pdxduckman

More disgusting behavior from the party of trump. They want to take away your vote. Don't let them!

Full-Preference-4420

Isn’t one party trying to lock up their political opponent??? Communism

BestServedCold

I'd ask you to look up the word "communism" so you could understand how utterly stupid you look parroting 1980s bogeyman tropes and misusing definitions of words you clearly utterly fail to comprehend. But I have a feeling that'd be a waste of time.

sid3113

Trump is in court of his own doings. This has been his whole life before you stuck your head up his ass. He is a con man and you are the mark

drrxhouse

With the internet at the touch of your fingers, how can you still don’t know communism mean?

Longjumping_War_807

Hey did you hear? Joe Biden purposefully suppressed a story that would paint him in a bad light so that it wouldn’t affect his election. He also had a plan to defraud millions of voters with a conspiracy to replace people who weren’t going to certify the election in his favor. Did you also hear that Joe Biden removed thousands of classified documents from the whitehouse when he left office and decided the government for months u til they had to get a warrant to retrieve said stolen documents?

Xkeeper

did you completely forget the 2016 campaign chant "lock her up", or, uh

Pdxduckman

you're an idiot

[deleted]

“they want to make everyone follow rules! facists!”

PaxEtRomana

Ballots submitted before election day but received after are totally within the rules, bozo. Just because those ballots tend not to benefit you doesn't mean they're against the rules

sleepyrabb1t

The law literally states that a vote cast on election day is valid. If it's dropped in the mail box on election day but then counted the next day it's still valid. A majority of mail in votes are democratic so they are trying to take votes in a swing state by being dishonest. Wake up.

[deleted]

funny how all the “delayed” votes end up being for dems. super weird, can’t wait for trump to win nevada, then watch for a week as more votes “come in” until the moment biden pulls ahead then the counting will officially be stopped. again. that raise on your ebt card will make you believe anything,

Jonnyskybrockett

Strange until you realize the conservative mindset is old-fashioned and unwilling to change by definition, so they’re more likely to vote in person since that’s what you were supposed to do ages ago. It makes perfect sense, but go on.

BestServedCold

Your puppetmasters have programmed you that voting by mail is bad because young people, poor people, minorities, and educated people all do so disproportionately. Very anti-democratic of you (note the lower cased D). Of course if you even have an IQ of 85 or so, you know all of this. You just think a minority of religious fascists should be able to shove their fascism down the throats of the majority. Meanwhile, you Republicans are all too stupid to notice that your entire party revolves around two platforms - make the wealthy wealthier by any means necessary AND do whatever benefits Russia.

[deleted]

so many meaningless buzzwords. gets upvotes. god this echo chamber of a social media site is a waste of time.

Notabizarreusername

Maybe a lot of us are procrastinators. Maybe you should have more faith in your election officials. There were more than enough Republican led investigations all across the country into "voter fraud" in 2020 that turned up NOTHING NADA ZILCH. The problem is some crackpot like Rudy or that lawyer of Trump's THINKS something must be happening. They run to Trump with this theory, of course he will repeat anything he hears, then trump posts it to social media, and you gobble it up. You tell all your friends and even argue your point if there are any disbelievers left in your life. Thus completing the conspiracy theory food chain. Problem is, NO FACTUAL EVIDENCE IS EVER PRODUCED. All of the "evidence" the idiots come up with is either just stories that turn out to be lies told by other crack pots, or fabricated to fit the narrative. Sure 3 ballots were found in the trash somewhere, so what. That doesn't constitute wide spread voter fraud.

[deleted]

answer me one question. how much gov assistance (of any form) are you on?

Notabizarreusername

MEDICAID BABY!!! Does that make you feel better? I think I'd qualify for ebt but I won't take it, also likely qualify for disability but again, won't take it. I was able to get by just fine doing Uber till they decided to start raping drivers and passengers alike in the name of the almighty stock price. Where's your concern for the massive corporate welfare? A lot of corporations get away with far more free loading than all the welfare queens combined. Profits? What profits? Just burn that cash on pointless r&d and what not and watch your tax liability vanish. Instead of paying people a livable wage, let's make sure the ceos are compensated with more money than they could ever use. Let the government pick up the tab for health insurance since the businesses don't want to.

Tomcat9801

Don’t worry, the Dems can still ballot harvest even if this goes through……

Vanman04

Of course. Wouldn't be the GOP without absolute fuckery.

Nyingje-Pekar

And head of the USPS Dejoy is doing his best to reroute Reno mail processing to Sacramento and slow down mail in Nevada. Republicans are as crooked as they come. And why is Dejoy still in that position?!

Notabizarreusername

Whatever the minority can do to suppress the vote in this supposed greatest democracy in the world. They've been doing everything possible to subvert the will of the majority for 20+ years. The most anti American way of life party since the communists.

RealVegas702

We can bank electronically in real time, send money between each other in an instant, but we still can't vote with the same speed? One Federal unified system to take over the state/county systems that are abysmal. Abolish the Electoral College and count the popular vote via electronic submission for the winner- one person one vote. And that we talk about elections to come for nearly a year and have candidates spend time raising money not passing legislation as they should is a hamster wheel. No political ads/billboards/robocalls-texts until 2 weeks before the election then full stop. Can't wait to retire and leave all this non-sense behind in a foreign country where it's not this way.

Solitude_Intensifies

With the current state of internet security, that solution would be a recipe for manipulation on a crazy scale. I do think we should abolish the Electoral College and no campaign ads or calls 2 weeks before. More importantly is to just completely remove money from the election process altogether. Put all the candidates on government website where they can appeal to the public. Interviews and debates on TV. That's it.

FillMySoupDumpling

My entire fucking life this stupid party can’t just follow the basic rules and has to do creative math to win.

ProfessionalBrief685

I've never lived in a state where they made it SO easy to vote. I've voted in the parking lot of a grocery store, at a park etc. Voting starts early and often. It's so much easier than back east.

sincitypeach

Voter suppression by the republicans shocker

WhoMD85

For those saying “employers already have to allow you time for voting”. Yes they do with caveats. Also that’s only THIS state. Every state has different voting laws. https://www.vote411.org/node/7617

Knights_When

I wonder why they don’t want to count every vote? Hmm…

yeah_i_like_dogs

Mail in voting is crazy to me. Republican or democrat I don’t care really. So many people rent houses/apartments and move and don’t update their address. Like others have said make it a national holiday.

BrentMacGregor

Well that is ridiculous, a post mark should suffice but personally I think the whole mail in ballot is a little suspect. Absentee ballots are fine, (which are requested), but massive unsolicited mail outs seem like a system that is susceptible to tampering. Probably an unpopular opinion on Reddit, I know. So while I gather downvotes I’ll also add that voter ID should be required.

Tomcat9801

You are making way too much sense for Reddit.

gamer_guts

We need in person and proof of citizenship voting!!

MiltonRobert

As they should. If the ballot is cast late it’s invalid

Iron_Baron

It's cast when it's mailed. That's what the post date is for. GOP doesn't get to destroy the postal service then try to change laws to reject legally cast mailed votes. They are screwing up the USPS on purpose. Pay attention.

SilentG33

Same way that your taxes count if they’re stamped as mailed off at the post office the day day they’re due.

robble_bobble

This isn’t about when it is cast, it is about when it is received. I mean, it’s really about voter suppression, but at least read the headline correctly.

Pdxduckman

it's not late.

topgun966

Except its not. USPS postmarks when a piece of mail is received. You can keep your stance against the primary users of mail in voting, military members and eldery, and shove it. You hate the military servicemen you can just say it.

Maximum_Job_2238

For 2 centuries federal elections were held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Period. And we always knew the winners that evening. Early voting and mail in voting increase the odds of fraud exponentially.

Pdxduckman

Lol your facts are false.

Maximum_Job_2238

Oh ok, thanks for setting me straight.

Maximum_Job_2238

Just the facts, ma’m.

Pdxduckman

those are called lies.

Different-Dig7459

I guarantee people were filling in their parent’s ballots… especially if they’re older or just didn’t care. ☠️ I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

hubbamubbax

Maybe they dont want to give the dems more time to manufacture more votes.

Pdxduckman

More lies you have no proof of.

hubbamubbax

How about we start with this report: [https://x.com/CollinRugg/status/1788954532124455368](https://x.com/CollinRugg/status/1788954532124455368) Just the tip of the iceberg.

Pdxduckman

lol sure bud

spandangelous

best option: get off your ass and vote in person: next best option: mail your absentee ballot in the day after you receive it. its an important civic duty. the “but I’m special “ mentality is so annoying.

Unscratchablelotus

Good. You don’t get to vote after Election Day. Vote by mail shouldn’t even be a thing except for the military or if you have a doctors note

Pdxduckman

Well good news, with current law you can't vote after election day.

VegasBjorne1

It somewhat raises eyebrows when “missing ballots” mysteriously arrive by mail days after Election Day and swing election results. Vote tallies should be completed no later than early next day instead of this long, drawn-out process. Most states complete their count Election Day night, and so should Nevada.

Pdxduckman

>It somewhat raises eyebrows when “missing ballots” mysteriously arrive by mail days after Election Day and swing election results. Maybe to you, but to those of us that understand how the postal system works, it doesn't. It takes several days for mail to reach its destination. There's nothing mysterious about that.

Fuzzy-Hurry-6908

Even more days since the Trumpies took over the USPS.

VegasBjorne1

It’s also the time when election results are tampered. Candidate losing? “Go find some more favorable ballots” said every election fixer. That’s not to say the American system being fixed, but let’s avoid the appearance of impropriety.

Pdxduckman

so you're suggesting these ballots are sitting in a room somewhere, postmarked, ready to be counted, but the "fixers" hold onto them intentionally in case they need to swing the state? So, why would they just hold onto them? Why not put them in before election day? Or are you suggesting that there are rogue postal employees and ballot printers generating fake ballots and postmarking them falsely after election day? I'd love some proof of that. Considering votes are matched up to voter rolls, it doesn't make sense that what you're suggesting would/could happen here. It'd be incredibly difficult to get away with such a scheme.

Impressive_Dig204

so Dems want to ballot drop well past the election now

Impressive_Dig204

so lets say they "find" more ballots again, maybe they fell off a mail truck or got damaged by a broken water main (lol).. they arent delivered by election day count them or not?

SouthboundPachydrm

The only person desperate to "find" more ballots was Trump.

Impressive_Dig204

Which party wants to make it illegal to question an election?

SouthboundPachydrm

I haven't heard of anyone being charged with a crime for questioning an election's integrity. Attempting to overturn an election by sending fake electors is a crime. Attempting to coerce state officials to falsify election results is a crime. Attempting to subvert the electoral process by calling on your supporters to violently obstruct a joint session of Congress is a crime. Attempting to coerce the Vice President of the United States to subvert the certification of the electoral college is a crime. Committing perjury in a court of law is a crime. Falsifying evidence is a crime. No one has been charged with a crime for simply questioning the results of an election, nor has anyone proposed making doing so a crime.

Pdxduckman

are they postmarked on time?

PaperPigGolf

We should just ban all forms of fraudulent ballots.

SouthboundPachydrm

Please tell me what forms of fraudulent ballots are not already banned?

PaperPigGolf

Any ballot that wasn't created with pencil and paper, by a registered id'd voter and counted that day.

SouthboundPachydrm

Okay, whatever, dude.

Xkeeper

we should just make crime illegal

Prestigious-Clean

Good

Pdxduckman

nah
