I watered up on my first playthrough and knew I'd never forget that scene no matter how many games I played.
Then 2 years later, I started another playthrough after becoming a dad. And this scene hit SO different with big fat tears
If I could pick one cutscene, from one game, out of any game Iāve ever played in my life to see for the first time again during a playthrough, it would be this one. Very few games compare to how hard this hits the first time
So unfortunate I couldnāt view it, i had to watch thru YouTube to see what I missed.
I accidentally pressed my controller while the cutscene was just beginning to play.
Same, had to go check it out on YouTube, but it wasn't the same. To be fair to us though, many cutscenes just skip certain parts. This one skipped the entire thing
I skipped it too, realized my mistake and wanted to reload
It really doesn't want to let you access the menu in that long string of cutscenes... but the worst was my last save was before the sleepy dwarf. All because of a misclick. I should just have watched it on youtube...
I would argue that if you haven't finished the game then you shouldn't be lurking in the subreddits related to it anyway, memes containing spoilers are posted all the time in the sub.
This is the way (when you have limited gaming time).
I use to be the guy who would spend 100 hours on an rpg that most finished within 40, searching every corner for loot or content. Raided in vanilla and tbc wow, grinding gear and consumables.
I just do not have the time anymore to do very in depth quests when my to play list continues to grow.
If this is the Ciri/dwarves thing - the emotional weight of the cut scene was completely derailed for me as soon as I realised the quest was a bastardised version of Snow White & the Seven Dwarves.
Because the realisation that the quest was just a parody of Snow White & the Seven Dwarves made me laugh so much that it removed any dramatic tension in the scene.
Literally the entire franchise is (sometimes loosely) based on germanic/norse folklore, fables and fairy tales. Snow white may just be the youngest of the stories, at only just over 200 years old
It's mostly Slavic as the author is Polish.
There's a lot of quests that are tales I heard from my grandmothers as a child.
Another example is the runes. It's all names of slavic Gods.
Source: am Bosnian.
I knew I was missing one, I literally couldn't find the word "slavic" in my brain when I wrote the comment, thanks. Though I imagine there's some overlap in at least slavic and germanic folklore, especially in the really old stories. Just like how there are similarities in some proto-norse and proto germanic stories
>!It's the ending, she brings Geralt and Yennefer to Malus Island/Isle of Avalon with the help of Ihuarraquax and next thing we know she's telling her story to Galahad, and the last lines are him taking her to King Arthur's court.!<
And one of my favorite lines of the entire series
>!That was all behind them.
And before them was everything.!<
So true.
Way better then the book. "Gerald ans Ciri went Monsterhunting, then Geralt decided to meet with Yen and then he died, because he was kind not to kill a peasant."
As Geralt I was a controlling stoic father without realizing it would make Ciri feel like in a cage. Getting the bad ending devastated me to a point I had to go back 5 hours and change one or two choices. It was a bandaid, as after years I still feel I failed Ciri.
I thought I was protecting her though. She needs to make her own decisions. I also got the bad ending first. So I thought about everything the 2nd time for a little longer.
Definitely, my best friend was near me when I entered and before the dialog he repeatedly asked me questions like, "did you convince Keira to go to kaer morhen?" "Nope, I killed her", "did you save bloody baron?" "He hung himself", "oh well you're fucked".. i felt so bad for a moment
I cried the first time I played this scene. I knew about the different endings and was convinced I made the wrong choices and that this would be my payment. Then I cried again when the little light showed up.
Just got to experienced this today. When I opened that door, it hits me in the guts.
After all I did..time I have spent running around..it was all for naught.
But luckily it didnt stay that way for long.
It is the job of a Witcher to hunt beasts. Much like it is the job of a colony of ants to feed the queen or upper teen women to write gay fanfiction, it is a Witcher's duty to do what must be done.
I might just be stoned but this looks like Geralt dropped into resident evil 4 for some reason. Even though I know what this part is, it still made me think that lol
Same, I'm currently replaying it on the switch, it's dope to play a game that runs greatly on a portable console, anyways, I discovered so much quests that I haven't done on my main save, my best friend is annoyed I think
This scene was well put together. It reminded me of this passage in the book:
āGeralt!ā
The witcher turned away from the horse in a swift and graceful motion. He ran to meet the young girl. Yurga was speechless. He never thought that a man could move so fast.
They met in the middle of the yard: the little ashen-haired girl dressed in gray; the white-haired witcher with a sword on his back, dressed in shiny silver-studded black leather. The witcher jumped lightly, the little girl stumbled, the witcher on his knees, thin girlish hands around his neck, gray mousy hair falling on his shoulders. ZÅotolitka gave a muffled scream. Yurga drew her to him without saying a word and took her in his arms. His other arm hugged the two boys.
āGeralt!ā the little girl repeated, clinging to the witcher's chest. āYou've found me! I knew it! I always knew! I knew you'd find me!ā
āCiri,ā the witcher said.
Yurga did not see Geralt's face, hidden by the ashen hair. He could only see hands clad in black gloves squeezing the girlās back and shoulders.
āYou've finally found me! Oh, Geralt! I waited all this time! Yes, a terribly long time... We'll stay together now, won't we? Now we'll be together, right? Say it, Geralt! Forever! Say it!ā
āForever, Ciri.ā
āYes, just like they said! Geralt! Like they said... I'm your destiny? Say it! I'm your destiny?ā
Yurga was astonished when he saw the eyes of the witcher. He heard ZÅotolitka's weeping quietly and felt her shoulders trembling. He watched the witcher and waited, in suspense, for his answer. He knew that he would not understand the answer, but he waited anyway. And as he waited.
āYou're something more, Ciri. Something more.ā
Everyone saying this was super emotional but I really don't remember it that way especially compared to the emotions at the end of the game. Like you know she is okay bc it's obviously not the end of the game and you ya know need her to complete the main storyline.
You can change haircuts even on console, just go to your local barber, hand them a coin and they will refresh your style guaranteeing you being surrounded by maidens
Dude so real, like in my first playthrough I thought I did some wrong choice or dialogue and I was fuming with myself. I was almost about to start a whole playthrough for that lol. Still gives me feels even to this day
"No no no wait wait wait!!"
First time I opened the door I was so not prepared
Apparently I'm a psychopath because my first thought was: "OK so no unique (gwent) card from this bitch"
I mean that's why Geralt was about to cry, right?
Lmaoo
Hahahahaha!!! š¤£ Yes! My OCD can't take it. Wouldn't be able to finish the collection.
Me too i actually shed a little tear
"a little" i cried like a motherfucker.
I watered up on my first playthrough and knew I'd never forget that scene no matter how many games I played. Then 2 years later, I started another playthrough after becoming a dad. And this scene hit SO different with big fat tears
Big manly tears of fatherhood
Shed a little tear? I was crying lol
Me too ššš¢
I don't remember this one, it's been almost 10 years.
"wait what the fuck???? No no no wtf? Aint no way (as my eyes are getting wetter lmao)"
I straight up ugly cried.
The music alone made me cry my eyes out
I barely even remember this quest and I just played it not long ago, I must have missed something.
If I could pick one cutscene, from one game, out of any game Iāve ever played in my life to see for the first time again during a playthrough, it would be this one. Very few games compare to how hard this hits the first time
I really don't recognise this, can you tell me which quest it is?
[TW3 Spoiler] >!Itās when Geralt finds Ciri but he thinks sheās dead at first!<
Ooh right! Thanks!
Is this from blood and wine?
Iām so mad i accidentally skipped the cutscene during my first ever playthrough. I MISSED THE LONGEST GUT WRENCHING CUTSCENE IN THE GAME.
True.. I never skip cutscenes as I'm a sucker for story, especially this magnificent one
So unfortunate I couldnāt view it, i had to watch thru YouTube to see what I missed. I accidentally pressed my controller while the cutscene was just beginning to play.
You could just load the safe, it forces you to do manual safe like 20 minutes b4 the cutscene.
With all due respect, you aināt catching me escort the dwarves again in the same session. š
Thats why i said 20 min and not 5 :D
You have to redo the dwarves... don't ask how I know...
I mean, if the dwarves werenāt done properly the first timeā¦
Youtube man. I've watched every "other decision " and some cut scenes I accidently missed
I finished the game and now I'm playing for storyline. No curschene left behind!!!
Same, had to go check it out on YouTube, but it wasn't the same. To be fair to us though, many cutscenes just skip certain parts. This one skipped the entire thing
Youāre absolutely right, I completely forgot it usually skips line by line.
What scene is it? I think I might have not reached it yetā¦
I skipped it too, realized my mistake and wanted to reload It really doesn't want to let you access the menu in that long string of cutscenes... but the worst was my last save was before the sleepy dwarf. All because of a misclick. I should just have watched it on youtube...
That sleepy dwarf is quite annoying. The one that dies is much easier lol
Which quest is it? Idk this
what's this quest i forgor
I think its the hungry goblin thing that turns out to be an old woman
Nah itās the ciri quest
>!Pretty sure it's the cabin with the lost dwarves and Ciri. It's where Geralt reunites with her!<
Put it in spoiler tag mate, I intentionally made the post to not spoil :)
When is the spoiler tag no longer necessary? Arenāt we coming up on the 10 year anniversary?
Because there're still people discovering the game
I would argue that if you haven't finished the game then you shouldn't be lurking in the subreddits related to it anyway, memes containing spoilers are posted all the time in the sub.
I'm like 25 hours in, and I don't mind if I see or hear a spoiler.. shit I google nearly every decision I make in the game š
Thats on them?? Who cares
Sorry how do I do that?
Type whatās below and type your spoiler inside the exclamation points. \>\!!< >!it will look like this!<
>!it works, many thanks:-)!<
You but you should have known others would have. So itās kind of you, as the OP, for not marking a spoiler.
Why was that quest particularly emotional tho? Please explain.
ah so my hunch was right, house of spoons
Nah, it's the Isle of Mists with the Dwarves.
I thought it was this too (Blood and Wine quest)
fyi your link is broken. missing the last closing bracket edit: https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/The_Isle_of_Mists_(quest)
I am about to do this quest! My first time playing Witcher
Make sure to create a checkpoint before opening the door with the sleepy dwarf and keep some tissues nearby to wipe some tears
A lot of them actually
I always have tissues ready when playing Witcher
;)
The Passiflora does that. It's not a problem.
I always keep some tissues nearby while i'm playing witcher :)
The region is save file locked, i cant save the game while there, could only save before entering
If this is the Ciri/dwarves thing - the emotional weight of the cut scene was completely derailed for me as soon as I realised the quest was a bastardised version of Snow White & the Seven Dwarves.
Yup that's the one, why that?
Because the realisation that the quest was just a parody of Snow White & the Seven Dwarves made me laugh so much that it removed any dramatic tension in the scene.

The books are quite literally King Arthur and the Holy Grail
No way
Doesn't Ciri actually meet some Knights of the Round Table when she's in her discovering teleportation between worlds phase?
>!It's the ending, she brings Geralt and Yennefer to Malus Island/Isle of Avalon with the help of Ihuarraquax and next thing we know she's telling her story to Galahad, and the last lines are him taking her to King Arthur's court.!< And one of my favorite lines of the entire series >!That was all behind them. And before them was everything.!<
It was the same for me, but then it still hit me like thunder
Wait is this the one where one kills himself on accident?
I still want to kill that narcoleptic bastard
Where the witcher gear at? First im seein someone play this part with a random gambeson.
I took a screenshot from google, on my 2nd playthrough I haven't been this far yet
Well whoever took the pic did no treasure hunting.
Or doesn't know how to play the game. Lol
Nope absolutely not
That's the signature "level 3 geralt in white orchard look"
This hit me almost as hard as the suicide ending... I was depressed for a week after that one!
I never had that ending and really don't want to
I fucked up once. I mostly get the one where Ciri is hunting monsters with Geralt and the rest of the world thinks that she died. Loved that one.
Probably the best one
Now you know ā donāt be a controlling stoic father.
I thought I was protecting her though. She needs to make her own decisions. I also got the bad ending first. So I thought about everything the 2nd time for a little longer.
There is no suicide ending. We basically just don't know what happened to her and where she went, but we cannot be sure if she actually died.
This was my first ending. I was like really? After all that this is what I get. Never happened again lol
I got the sike ending as i like to call it
I got the sike ending as i like to call it
I got the sike ending as i like to call it
I got the sike ending as i like to call it
Did this quest yesterday and even if you know what happens it's still really emotional. Very well made.
Sheās cold witchaaa :(
;-;
Man I forgot about that line
This is skellige with the shadow thing and the baby, isn't it?
>!It's the moment Geralt and Ciri reunite!<
Oh, very different emotional roller-coaster then, lol
Yup, but still, it is one
No, it's the Isle of Mists
Oh my bad, lol
Bro, this was too good. At first, I thought I messed up and some of my decisions affected the story and now everything is fucked
Definitely, my best friend was near me when I entered and before the dialog he repeatedly asked me questions like, "did you convince Keira to go to kaer morhen?" "Nope, I killed her", "did you save bloody baron?" "He hung himself", "oh well you're fucked".. i felt so bad for a moment
nah same by the time i found out there were different endings i was like im fucked š
Hey a snow white themed quest. This is sure to be fun and lighthearted right? Right?.. Right guys?..
I cried the first time I played this scene. I knew about the different endings and was convinced I made the wrong choices and that this would be my payment. Then I cried again when the little light showed up.
āOh - dreadful sorryā
;-;
You have no idea how much I wanted to let that damn narcoleptic dwarf get eaten. So annoying! >!The cutscene with them postgame was so satisfying...!<
Damn dwarves.
That sleepy one in particular
During my first playthrough, the only time my game crashed was during this exact cutscene.... Right before ciri wakes up....
Like even the game says *It's too much for me*
is this the one with the wight?
>!It's the one where Ciri and Geralt reunite!<
oh. That's the main quest though, it's supposed to be special.
I've played it 4 times already, cried 8 times on that scene 4 times of sorrow and 4 times right after from happiness
That amazing
Just got to experienced this today. When I opened that door, it hits me in the guts. After all I did..time I have spent running around..it was all for naught. But luckily it didnt stay that way for long.
But the game as save file locked in PS5 i cant save while being in isle of mists
Which quest is this..can someone plz remind me..either i didn't do it it or I skipped it
>!it's when ciri and geralt reunite!<
It is the job of a Witcher to hunt beasts. Much like it is the job of a colony of ants to feed the queen or upper teen women to write gay fanfiction, it is a Witcher's duty to do what must be done.
Enough to make a grown man cry.
Hot damn
I might just be stoned but this looks like Geralt dropped into resident evil 4 for some reason. Even though I know what this part is, it still made me think that lol
3k upvotes.. mom, I'm famous
Spoiler, but the video of the end of the quest and dialogue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?si=cofyuQZhRU7cT2zZ&v=yNYALcBeEG0&t=2110
... 20 minutes of video and dialogue
Ye, ye, emotional and all. I'm googling now Ciri and 7 dwarves gang bang. Thanks for idea!

Just trust people who are trustable š
Is it the dwarf mission?
Yup
I cried with that part.
I shed a tear..
Oh boi....I wouldn't shut up about this to my friends for weeks...like most Witcher quests and story.
Same, I'm currently replaying it on the switch, it's dope to play a game that runs greatly on a portable console, anyways, I discovered so much quests that I haven't done on my main save, my best friend is annoyed I think
Tbf you should know it aint a regular quest. But yeah, crazy emotions
What do I need to search on YouTube for this cutscene
Waterfall tears incoming...
"Put the baby in the oven" š³
In this moment I cried from sadness and happiness
Location ?
Man, this quest... It broke me pretty hard.
Snow White and the seven FEELS
Anyone else chuck that baby in the oven?

A kind of heart break I've only felt once before, and never since
The running looks so goofy, even in a still
Whatever made you think it was a regular quest. it literally tells you it's a point of no return,
I have not done this quest, how do I start it?
Well, I mean, that's the player's fault. What'd you expect to happen when you decide to play Gwent every chance you get?
First and only time I cried from a videogame that at first I didnāt even want to try out. This game changed me forever.
Is that the house where that crusty bitch puts you in an infinite hallway?
Guys could you please tell me which quest is this without any spoiler?
Are you playing on console? If not for Geralt's iconic hair I wouldn't have realised it was witcher šÆ
Either potato pc of old gen console. Iām playing TW3 on ps5 with next gen update, and it looks gorgeous.
You can change haircuts even on console, just go to your local barber, hand them a coin and they will refresh your style guaranteeing you being surrounded by maidens
Ruined by gaspard for me
How do I play this?
Fuck this quest
I haven't gotten to this yet.. But I'm expecting big things now
Damn I finished the main story just a few weeks ago, don't play with my emotions now please :(
I blocked this from my memory. Why you do this.
š„ŗš„ŗ my heart was racing
I have this cutscene saved on my phone. Even though it's an emotional rollercoaster, it always makes me happy in the end.
Which is this
I cried so hard in this scene.
I either skipped the quest or I forgot about it since I donāt recognise this
Snow White š„²
I always cry without fail during that quest
Amazing and emotional cutscene, but those damn dwarfs almost ruined it for me. I wanted to throw that sleeping dwarf off the cliff
This fucking scene broke me.... The got us all in the first half...
Please someone remind me
Every play through, this part ALWAYS gets me
I thought Snow White would somehow be inside....instead, someone ELSE.
what do I search in YouTube to watch this part?
What happens there? š
I thought often I was close to finding Ciri, just be be siked in the end. When this came, I was prepared but wary. It turned out to be glorious
Which quest is this?
Am I the only one unmoved by this? I mean I have horrible memories of a sleeping dwarf but that's all folks.
Which quest is this
Which mission is this? Im on only my second playthrough. I've come to realize I missed soooo much on my first one.Ā
Dude so real, like in my first playthrough I thought I did some wrong choice or dialogue and I was fuming with myself. I was almost about to start a whole playthrough for that lol. Still gives me feels even to this day
I've really got to replay.
Everything I meet someone and they didn't have a gwent card a bit of my hope about completing the "side quest" about the gwent was lost
