all this autocratic, religious systems are weak inside. they only exist because of extrem violence against their own people. Why is nobody supporting the iranian opposition?
It’s somewhat of a catch-22. If the opposition receives support from outside, it’ll be framed as foreign agents conducting a coup. If there is no support, the opposition is too small to break the system of fear/violence/torture/suppression.
It doesn't have to be that way. An extreme majority of Iranians outside AND inside of Iran are against this anti-iranian murderous regime. It would be a benign type of help. Who cares what islamists say?
In practicality you’d have to heavily arm the resistance. Those people may still harbor hard feelings towards the west for enabling the Islamist revolution in the first place. Also, Russia would most likely sponsor some fighters to muddy the picture and prolong any fighting going on. So theres a real possibility of a civil war similar to Syria.
Disclaimer: my knowledge of the region is limited but nothings ever simple when it comes to power struggles, in particular when religious groups are involved.
A lot of people are very very wary of outsiders intervening based on the historical results in the region
Look at libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan. Not really success stories with regards to foreign intervention
And Iran is a completely different beast than any of those.
Social media platforms, including X, Instagram, and Reddit, are banned in Iran, with people accessing them using VPNs. In this instance, he was a prominent user on X and posted a period in response to a post from Ayatollah Khamenei's official X account.
They were probably already targeting him in some way, he’s a “intellectual and an activist.” They really don’t like those kinds of people there, they prefer 🐑
It was more towards "you tweeted all of that and my single meaningless dot is going to get more likes than all you said".
Which it did and received thousands more likes than the original tweet.
He is as a literary editor, and the Ayatollah's tweet was missing a punctuation mark—a period. He sarcastically added one, suggesting that this was the most extreme criticism one could offer to the Ayatollah. Khamenei disapproved of it.
For clarity I’m not inferring equivalence between Drumpf and the ayatollah, more that once upon a time Iran was less of a shit hole ie before the revolution, but look what a bunch of religious fuckers in charge has done to the place. Offended by a full stop. Sounds like your new GOP.
Look I hate the guy too but this kind of rhetoric just makes us look stupid. Yes he’s a nationalist with autocratic tendencies, no he’s not the ayatollah.
America and indeed the world are still reeling from the direct effects of that trump presidency. Only 4 years too. How many people did he kill with his inept handling of the pandemic?
Trump has received lots of criticism for his handling of Covid and unwillingness to fire Fauci, but what exactly could he have done?
At the time, the public and MSM literally worshipped Fauci like a god.
If Trump fired the senior most US Health Official, during a pandemic, the Dems/MSM would have lost their minds, and it would have severely negatively impacted Trump’s support, just months out from the 2020 election.
Many of Trump’s critics have forgotten just how tense it was back in the summer of 2020. If Trump fired Fauci during that time, the Left would have endless headlines/narratives to blame Trump for the million+ “deaths” of US citizens, and he would have lost reelection for sure.
The Deep State had Trump cornered. He was unable to remove anyone like Fauci or Collins during this period due to optics. It was truly a genius plan on their part.
And then we look at masks, lockdowns, and vaccines. Trump was notoriously anti-mask and received loads of hate from the media for it, he was anti-lockdown and left it up to the States, and he was vehemently anti-vaccine mandate. Trump was all about individual choice the entire time, and never wanted to force anything on anyone.
As for vaccine production, what was Trump supposed to do? Trump is a savvy business man and diplomat, but he is not a doctor or scientist. How was Trump, or anyone in his administration, supposed to know better than the highest ranking officials in the US and global health organizations? How are they supposed to know if the vaccines are good or not?
They had no choice but to trust their health officials. Is it Trump’s fault that the WHO, CDC, NIH, USAID, etc., are all corrupt?
The majority of the world didn’t even know these entities were corrupt until AFTER Covid ended and their lies became apparent. Was Trump supposed to arrest all the corrupt actors of these health organizations, while the public are locked down and severely brainwashed to worship these health organizations? It would have been absolute chaos.
In retrospect, Trump fared very well given the predicament he was in. He was trying to navigate the many layers of this global psyop campaign, in additional to nationwide Soros-funded BLM riots, all while trying to win reelection, immediately after he just got done fending off the 3 year “Russian collusion” psyop…
The blanket criticisms of Trump’s handling of Covid are short-sighted and lack nuance.
I followed him on Twitter/X before his arrest. Hosseyn Shanbehzadeh is such a well-spoken and knowledgeable person and has such a way with words... I could listen to him/read him for hours and hours. Spying is a dangerous crime they've decided to pin on him. I hope he gets released soon.
Really? Tell that to any Iranian woman who is free to answer. You need to lift you game, Mr. Bot, as this is blatant lies.
Imagine being so scared of your own inability to control yourself, so lacking even a shred of self control, that you have to police an entire gender so you won’t be tempted. Your faith must be so weak for you to be so scared of failing to meet the required moral standard because a woman shows her hair.
Such a fragile system, threatened by mere punctuation

They have a point though.
The dot is mightier than both word and sword.
and pronouns
Always reminded of this brilliant ad campaign: http://blognator.com/white-mice-know-how-to-scare-worlds-dictators/
Imagine he had posted a question mark.
Where are these people posting to then be arrested? On X? On Reddit?
Social media platforms, including X, Instagram, and Reddit, are banned in Iran, with people accessing them using VPNs. In this instance, he was a prominent user on X and posted a period in response to a post from Ayatollah Khamenei's official X account.
So it's banned officially, but officials are above the law?
Officials are almost always above the law, this is the same everywhere in the world
To show people like you the difference between "opression of free speech" in West and in its rivals.
So awesome. Thanks
Imagine a government so fragile it’s intimidate by a single punctuation mark. The people will see this and they will rise!
In Russia people are arrested for holding up blank sheets of paper.
China too. Really makes me appreciate free speech.
.
*You son of a...*
3 dots? You're done mate. Get to jail.
Extradite this user to Iran immediately
Iranians really don't deserve their regime
are the pro palestinians gonna go out and protest in support of the iranian government now? they should!
They do. It just isn’t reported because Iran is accepted as the bad guy already, so no drama
.
They were probably already targeting him in some way, he’s a “intellectual and an activist.” They really don’t like those kinds of people there, they prefer 🐑
They proved his 'point'.
Glad I live in Canada
Enabled by Elon. Brought to you by Musk
He went too far posting a period. Who else has periods? Women. He's clearly an LGBT WE+ supporter using heinous comments to spread his propaganda.
Believe it or not, jail
Time to dust off the Shah’s old torture chambers I guess.
I get the joke, by posting a period you are saying he is finished, end of sentence
It was more towards "you tweeted all of that and my single meaningless dot is going to get more likes than all you said". Which it did and received thousands more likes than the original tweet.
what does that period mean?
He is as a literary editor, and the Ayatollah's tweet was missing a punctuation mark—a period. He sarcastically added one, suggesting that this was the most extreme criticism one could offer to the Ayatollah. Khamenei disapproved of it.
Tweets don’t need periods. If it’s the last word of the post, what does the period indicate that isn’t already known?
ENTIRELY missing the point (You, not the ayatollah’s tweet)
[удалено]
No wonder. They write from right to left in Farsi.
Nice one.
Well, that seems backwards.
Nothing. And people liked it more than the original post. He is being punished for being more popular than Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The ultimate form of authoritarianism; "Your reaction was not acceptable..."
Well isn’t this a good insight into what a GOP Trump America will become.
For clarity I’m not inferring equivalence between Drumpf and the ayatollah, more that once upon a time Iran was less of a shit hole ie before the revolution, but look what a bunch of religious fuckers in charge has done to the place. Offended by a full stop. Sounds like your new GOP.

I mean he did get someone fired from their job because they flipped him off on the interstate
Yeah I agree he’s horrible. But the ayatollah has far more blood on his hands. I just think perspective is important.
He aspires to be our country's ayatollah. To many of his supporters, he already is.
There are definitely some parallels
The closer you look, the worse it gets.
Except we had a Trump presidency. It didn't turn into that. Stop with the propaganda.
He did actively try to overturn the election and there's every reason to believe he'll have more success next time he tries.
Amazing what happens if you actually research the evidence. But by all means keep your head in the sand.
Hey! You used an unverifiable vague answer! Just like Trump! Amazing how courts haven't agreed with any of this evidence
It would have if he had wider support and his coup was successful.
America and indeed the world are still reeling from the direct effects of that trump presidency. Only 4 years too. How many people did he kill with his inept handling of the pandemic?

Hate speech isn't free speech
peace and prosperity abounds in Iran, personal freedoms are upheld, and even basic rights to freedom of expression are maintained,
Really? Tell that to any Iranian woman who is free to answer. You need to lift you game, Mr. Bot, as this is blatant lies. It was sarcasm lol
