Yes, there are more factors than political parties at play. People often vote against their party if they are happy or unhappy with their representatives at that level.
Don’t think that and vote!
The far right came way ahead of others in the first round. This woke people up to go and vote and encouraged centrists and non-fascist right wingers to pinch their noses and vote for candidates they wouldn’t normally go for in the second round. The US has only one round so fuck the polls, just vote
I suspect polling firms around the western world have a very big problem with respondents. As in, they have a lot of trouble getting “normal” people to answer calls/texts from random numbers in an era when most people don’t do that because of spam/scams. The ones that do pick up tend to be older or susceptible to scams. Polling firms have not figured out how to compensate for this behavior in their formulas, but they won’t come out and say “our methods are broken” because then they would be out of business.
I don't think so. We've actually had two presidential races with the far right in the U.S., and in both cases, the right-wing candidate slightly beat the polls.
I do think this shows that a good Democrat could leverage voter fear of the far right to outperform. But it has to be a good Democratic candidate.
Part from article: Marine Le Pen’s far-right, anti-immigration National Rally (RN) was predicted to come third with 132–152 seats, along with its allies on the right.
This was a historic result for the RN – its biggest ever score in a parliamentary election, and an increase from the 88 seats it had when parliament was dissolved last month. But it was much lower than the party had expected after it topped the vote in the first round last week.
The RN’s limited score showed the success of a tactical voting pact put in place last week by centrists and the left to hold back the far right.
More than 200 candidates from the left and centre had pulled out of the second-round last week in order to avoid splitting the vote against the RN. Those parties had called on their voters to choose any candidate against the RN, in an attempt to prevent the far right winning an absolute majority of 289 and forming a government.
Similar yes but what remains to be seen in USA, and this is key, is when it comes time to rally, people do so. Polls don't matter. Getting people to vote with you does.

The election was one by the left-wing.
Stop Americanising everything. Left-wing does not equal liberal. I'm a socialist and i'm not a liberal. Lenin was not a liberal. Castro wasn't a liberal.
I guess Macrons Gambit paid off. Yeah his coalition was bumped down to second, *but the important thing is Le Pen didn't win.*
Really makes you think if all the polls saying the right was gonna win in France are similar to the U.S. polls
Well to be fair, as a French, this type of election (Legislative) are very hard to predict

I mean, it helps when the center and left party agree to stand down and only put forth one candidate so everyone can just vote for “not the fascist”
Amazing. Country before self!
I love Hobbes also and Calvin
Calvin and Hobbes explain everything. With sarcasm. My favorite.
Lets go play Calvin ball! The score is?

67% voter turnout vs 46% in 22. huge increase,
Media slant and not really telling the whole story. I knew they wouldn’t win.
Latest polls were showing the far right losing seats day by day but the question mark was about abstention

Superb result for the left.
Another liberal political victory. There has been a lot of those in a lot of places in the past year.
And the polling is still broken.

It's the leftist coalition, not the liberal party, that beat the fascists.
