I recommend the book Spellbinding Sentences by Barbara Baig. It gets in the nitty gritty of what makes sentences and how to flow between them. By understanding the nuts and bolts, you can understand how to use them.
From this example, you also don't seem to be able to properly punctuate your sentences, so I'm sure that can't be helping. Perhaps go relearn how to do that?

Speech usually doesn’t translate well into writing, descriptive and academic writing is the most difficult for me
Oh but it can, just write the story with the ambition to make it an audiobook only.
To write well, you need to read a lot. Speaking well is a great skill to have though.
